At critical turning points in the market, the crowd usually gets
its wrong. The least informed conclusion from this statement is that the crowd
is usually wrong. A useful trading strategy lies somewhere between these two
extremes. This book examines more than a dozen specific strategies for
identifying crowd sentiment and determining when it is effective to trade
against the crowd.
The book is made more useful by the inclusion of Metastock coding for many of
the searches and indicator enhancements discussed in each section. (It would be
even more useful if these were available as copy and paste downloads)
The foundation of this approach is not that the crowd is stupid, but that the
market is inefficient. These are tactics designed to identify, and exploit this
inefficiency. Some of the analysis rests on using derived information from the
options market to develop sentiment indexes and guides.
