This is a very good and detailed guide to investing. It was written as a somewhat personal guide for Hegartys family after he had a heart attack. He wanted to distil the features that made his investing successful so he could pass this information to his son. There is nothing like a heart attack to focus the mind. The result is a very useful and practical book with a clear focus. This is not generalised information.

However, to get the most out of the book it is important that you accept the preconditions. Hegarty sets out the conditions and objectives he is seeking to achieve. Then he shows step by step how he develops and evaluates candidates and strategies to achieve those objectives. This is a unified and consistent book. The processes can be used to develop your own investment strategy.
