Over time traders develop a personal collection of tools. These are the indicators we turn to most frequently for almost all of our analysis. Unfortunately, in most charting programs, these tools seem to be scattered  over half a dozen different drop down menus, and in multiple positions within the menu choices. The GTE pak provides you with the opportunity to group all your preferred tools together for quick reference into a personal tool pak or tool group.

The process starts by selecting the SET UP menu and then the ARRANGE TOOLS option. This brings up a menu display showing all of the currently available toolboxes. This includes those tools grouped together as averages, drawing, price, Guppy, statistical etc. Click on the tool group descriptions on the left hand side and the full list of tools contained in each tool group is displayed in the right hand section of the dialog box.

To create your own tool group collection click on the  ADD TOOL GROUP button. Type in the name for your tool group collection. We called ours QIK TOOLS. Click OK when completed. This then adds this new tool group to the tool group options on the left hand side of the display. If you clicked on this group you will find the group is empty. The next task is to fill it with our selected tools.

Do this by opening the tool group that currently contains the tools you want to use. Highlight the group name and the tools appear in a  list in the right hand panel. Click on the tool you want, in this example, Guppy Count Back Line – Entry and drag it over the words  ‘Qik Tools’ in the left hand panel and then release the mouse button to drop the tools into the new tool box.

The Guppy Count Back Line – Entry  notation disappears from the original tool box. Tools can be added to the Qik Tools group from any toolbox in your GTE charting program. They can be transferred back to their original locations at any time.

When this has been completed, select SAVE. To verify your selection simply go back to the SET UP menu and select ARRANGE TOOLS. Click on the Qik Tools entry and all the new tools will be shown. Currently these are arranged in alphabetical order. Coming upgrades will allow you to adjust the order within the toolbox. Your new tool box group now appears in the menu tab headings. At any time you can restore the default settings from the ARRANGE TOOLS menu display by selecting the  RESTORE DEFAULTS button.

One of the objectives of the GTE charting pak is to enable users to customize the software to suit their own needs. Developing a personal toolbox makes  chart  analysis easier because all the tools you like using are grouped together into a single selection panel.
