SUMMARY
Short term trading is ideal for volatile and nervous markets. These are the practical
tactics for nervous, unstable and volatile markets. We explore defensive strategies
designed to limit the time spent in the market. Speed offers protection and limits risk by
reducing the time the trade is open. In nervous markets it makes more sense to snatch
profits from short term trades rather than to buy a stock and hoping it does not sink.
Part 1 TRADING TIME
Short term trading includes day trades and trades lasting from three to eight days. The
skills we use as position traders are applied, with some modifications, to these time
frames. This section provides a better understanding of when short term trading is
appropriate. It demolishes some myths about day trading, inside trading and the breaking
news advantage, so we can develop a clearer idea of how opportunities are created in these
time frames.
Part 2 FINDING OPPORTUNITY
This section shows how to benefit from inside news as it is traded in real time.
Successful strategies for trading earnings and dividend announcements, leaked and surprise
news are explained. Tactics to scalping volatility are included. They show how we apply
Deel techniques to the market. We conclude with a selection of short term rally
patterns. Each chapter is illustrated with practical, real time examples.
Part 3 - PRODUCING PROFIT
Leverage produces better profits. This section explores techniques designed to get the
best out of warrant trading. This includes trade identification, management, and the use
of order line detail to capture leveraged profits. It concludes with slingshot trades
which magnify the impact of the news and announcements tactics from the previous section.
Part 4 LETHAL WEAPONS
This includes a selection of specific techniques, including overnight gap trading and
adaptations of the Tony Oz intra day method. These are consistent winners that underpin
short term trading success.
Part 5 PROFIT TAKING
Execution risk is where theory meets practice. Short term traders are screen raiders and
we show the techniques in detail using real time screen shots from actual trades. We show
how electronic stop loss and contingent orders improve trade management.
